Fair wear & tear

What we consider normal — and what we don't.

Normal wear (no charge)

  • Stone chips smaller than 3 mm on bonnet, bumper or windscreen edges.
  • Tyre tread reduction in proportion to kilometres driven.
  • Light surface marks on bumpers from parking.
  • Reasonable carpet dust and light cabin dirt.

Damage (chargeable to the renter)

  • Body dents, scratches over 30 mm, or any panel replacement.
  • Cracked windscreens or windscreen chips needing repair.
  • Stained or burned upholstery, smoke odour, pet odour.
  • Wheel-arch or kerb damage from impact.
  • Lost keys ($350 for a standard key; OEM smart keys at cost).

How we assess

At pickup we photograph the vehicle and walk you around it. You countersign the condition report. At return we repeat the photo set. New marks not present on the pickup photos are itemised in a damage report with photo evidence and an indicative cost, and emailed to you for a 14-day query window before the matter is closed.
